Installing DataStax Community on Windows systems

About installing on Windows systems.

DataStax no longer provides the DataStax Community version of Apache Cassandra™ or the DataStax Distribution of Apache Cassandra. See DataStax support for Apache Cassandra.

To download and install the latest version of open-source Cassandra, see https://cassandra.apache.org/.

Prerequisites

32-bit systems require the Visual C++ 2008 runtime (Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)).
Latest version of Java 8.

Note: From Windows PowerShell, set the execution policy to unrestricted from an elevated command-prompt:

Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Procedure

Download the Windows installer for your platform from Apache Cassandra.

Choose DataStax Community 2.2.x.

Note: 32-bit systems are for development only.
Follow the DataStax Community setup wizard to install.

During installation, you can choose whether to automatically start the Cassandra server. These option starts the server automatically when the installation completes and whenever the computer reboots.
