Changing the HTTP interface to Apache JServe Protocol

Configure search to use the AJP (Apache JServe Protocol). This capability is typically used where https serves a web application and DSE Search powers the backend.

In addition to the widely-used HTTP interface, you can configure DSE search to use the AJP (Apache JServe Protocol). AJP is an optimized, binary version of HTTP that facilitates Tomcat communication with an Apache web server using mod_jk. This capability is typically used where https serves a web application and DSE Search powers the backend. By default the AJP connector is disabled. To enable the AJP connector, uncomment the connector configuration in the Tomcat server.xml file. For example, remove the comments as follows:
<!-- Define an AJP 1.3 Connector on port 8009 -->
Connector port="8009" protocol="AJP/1.3" redirectPort="8443"
The Tomcat server.xml file is located in the following directory:
  • Packaged installs: /usr/share/dse/tomcat/conf/
  • Tarball installs: install_location/resources/tomcat/conf/
