Restoring from a backup

You can restore from any local backups that have been run by OpsCenter, but not from snapshots run from nodetool. You can pick any subset of column families that exist in the snapshot to restore.

Note: If the backup contains encrypted column families created prior to DataStax Enterprise 4.0.4 or 4.5.2, you will not be able to restore the snapshot.

To restore a backup:

Prerequisites

To restore an encrypted backup, the agent must be granted password-less sudo access on the DSE nodes. This has already been granted if you used OpsCenter to install the agents.

Procedure

  1. In the left pane click Data.
  2. Click the Backups tab.
  3. Find the backup you wish to restore in the list of backups.
  4. Click Restore.
  5. Choose which keyspaces to restore.
  6. (Optional) Choose individual column families within a chosen keyspace to restore.
  7. (Optional) Click the Truncate/delete existing data before restore checkbox.
  8. (Optional) Click the Throttle stream throughput at ____ MB checkbox and enter the desired throttling value.
  9. Click Restore.
