Unable to retrieve endpoint snitch

The endpoint snitch cannot be retrieved and OpsCenter reports the snitch as unknown.

The endpoint snitch cannot be retrieved. OpsCenter cannot add nodes to or provision a cluster until agent connectivity is established and OpsCenter can determine the endpoint snitch.
Note: The retrieve endpoint snitch is issue is applicable to OpsCenter version 5.2.
A lack of agent connectivity can mean the agent is not connected to Cassandra or OpsCenter or both. Typical reasons for agent connectivity issues include:
  • The agent is not installed. Install the agent.
  • The agent is stopped. Start the agent.
  • The agent has incorrect credentials for JMX.
  • The agent has incorrect credentials for Cassandra.
  • The agent version does not match the OpsCenter version. Upgrade the agent version.
  • All instances of Cassandra are down so no agents can connect.
  • The agent cannot communicate with OpsCenter due to port and firewall issues. Verify that the correct ports are open between machines as described in OpsCenter and DataStax agent ports.
  • The agent cannot communicate with OpsCenter due to ssl configuration issues.
