Providing access to Apollo databases

Provide other members of your team with access to an Apollo database.

After you create an Apollo database, you can grant access to other members of your team by providing them with the database credentials and connection details for your database.

Although teammates can access your Apollo database, it will not display in their list of available databases under My Databases in the DataStax Cloud console.

  1. Open a browser, navigate to the DataStax Cloud console, and log in.
  2. Click View Existing Databases to view available databases in your organization.
  3. From the Databases page, under Actions, click the ellipsis () for the database you want to connect to and select Connection details.
  4. In the Connection Details window, click Download secure connect bundle to download the file.

This file contains the security certificates and credentials for your database.

Tip: Alternatively, you can right-click the Download credentials link, copy the link source, and then use a curl command to download the file:
    curl -L "<secure-connect-database_name-download-URL>" >
  5. Click Close to close the Connection Details window.
  6. Send the secure connect bundle to the teammate whom you want to grant access to your database.
Important: Be careful when sharing connection details. Providing this information to another user grants them access to your Apollo database and ownership capabilities, such as making modifications to the database.
  7. For security, delete downloaded connection credentials after sending them to your teammate.

What's next

Your teammate can use one of the following methods to connect to your database:
Note: If your teammate wants to connect to your Apollo database using DataStax Studio, they need to use the standalone version. The embedded DataStax Studio instance is configured to work with only the connected Apollo database.
