Astra Block quickstart

Astra Block is a blockchain data service that offers real-time indexed blockchain data for building Web3 and decentralized applications (dapps).

This page walks you through how to request access to Astra Block and create your first Block-enabled database. For more information about Astra Block, see Astra Block overview.

Request access to Astra Block

At this time, you must request access in order to use Astra Block.

  1. Log into the Astra Portal.

  2. From the Home screen, locate the Astra Block banner and click Request Astra Block.

The Astra Block introduction banner showing two buttons: 'Dismiss' and 'Request Astra Block'.

Note that if you previously dismissed the banner, but would now like to use Astra Block, you can still request access by sending a message via the Intercom widget in the lower right-hand corner of the Astra Portal.

  3. In the Request Astra Block dialog that appears, configure the following fields:

    • Blockchain Dataset: Use the dropdown menu to select the blockchain dataset that you’d like to use with your Block-enabled database. The available datasets are:

      • Ethereum

    • Project Details (Optional): Enter details describing how you intend to deploy and use Astra Block.

    • I agree to the Terms and Policies: Check this box to acknowledge that you’ve read and agreed to the Astra Block Terms and Policies.

  4. Click Request Access.

Upon submission, DataStax will begin reviewing your request. Once your request is approved, a DataStax representative will reach out to you via email to discuss the next steps for creating your Block-enabled database.

Create a Block-enabled database

At this time, Block-enabled databases can only be manually created by DataStax upon request.

If you have yet to create your first Block-enabled database, you can request one by following the procedure in Request access to Astra Block.

If you’re already a user of Astra Block and would like to create additional Block-enabled databases, please send a request in a reply to your original Astra Block invitation email, or as a message via the Intercom widget in the lower right-hand corner of the Astra Portal.

Next steps

Once your Block-enabled database is deployed and initialized, you can start querying blockchain data in accordance with the Astra Block data model.

You can also check out the sample apps below to get an idea of the things you can do with your new blockchain data.
