Manually deploying agents - Debian

Installs agents on Linux nodes using APT packages.

Prerequisites

Root or sudo access to the machines where the agents will be installed.
The DataStax Enterprise cluster is up and running.
OpsCenter is installed and configured.
JMX connectivity is enabled on each node in the cluster.

Important: End User License Agreement (EULA). By downloading DataStax products, you confirm that you agree to the processing of information as described in the DataStax website privacy policy and agree to the website terms of use.

opscenterd.conf

The location of the opscenterd.conf file depends on the type of installation:

Package installations: /etc/opscenter/opscenterd.conf
Tarball installations: install_location/conf/opscenterd.conf

address.yaml

The location of the address.yaml file depends on the type of installation:

Package installations: /var/lib/datastax-agent/conf/address.yaml
Tarball installations: install_location/conf/address.yaml

Procedure

Add the DataStax repository to the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/datastax.sources.list file (if you have already not done so).

echo "deb https://debian.datastax.com/enterprise\
stable main" | \
sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/datastax.sources.list
```

Add the DataStax repository key to your Aptitude trusted keys.

curl -L https://debian.datastax.com/debian/repo_key | sudo apt-key add -

Install the DataStax agent.

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install datastax-agent

In address.yaml, set stomp_interface to the IP address that OpsCenter is using. You might have to create the address.yaml file.

echo "stomp_interface: reachable_opscenterd_ip" | sudo tee -a /var/lib/datastax-agent/conf/address.yaml
```
If SSL communication is enabled in opscenterd.conf, use SSL in address.yaml.
```
echo "use_ssl: 1" | sudo tee -a /var/lib/datastax-agent/conf/address.yaml
```
Start the DataStax agent.
```
sudo service datastax-agent start
```
