DSE Advanced Replication architecture

Multiple clusters are combined into a federated system with unidirectional streams. With DSE Advanced Replication, clusters have two- or three-tier hub-and-spoke topology.

All of the data with centralized management and analytics is stored in the database hub clusters, with a DataStax Enterprise edge cluster in each remote location. This cross-cluster data migration supports selected data replication strategies. All of the data can be stored centrally, with only a slice of the data stored in each remote location. This image shows a more complex architecture with multiple types of edge use cases that are linked to a centralized cluster of three datacenters. The edge clusters can experience disconnections from the network and periodically send one-way updates to the hub clusters.
