Pre-installation planning

You provision and deploy a cluster to install Hyper-Converged Database (HCD). Before you deploy a cluster, it’s important to plan for capacity and performance. This planning includes deciding on the cluster size based on the number of datacenters and the number of nodes per datacenter. These decisions will then lead to choices for the size of nodes/types of cloud instances and disk capacity and performance.

The Capacity Planning Guide covers hardware selection, estimating disk capacity, anti-patterns, cluster testing, and more. DataStax recommends that you read this guide before you install a cluster.

After you’ve planned for capacity and performance, you can deploy a cluster to install HCD. For more information, see Install HCD.
