Get started with Mission Control
Mission Control simplifies the management of your database clusters, providing a centralized platform to monitor, control, and optimize your database operations.
For a quick local installation to explore Mission Control features, see Quickstart: Local Mission Control installation.
Mission Control operates through the Kubernetes API, making it fully compatible with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps workflows.
You can manage clusters using kubectl, YAML manifests, or GitOps tools like like Argo CD and Flux.
The Mission Control UI is optional.
For more information about IaC and GitOps workflows, see Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps workflows.
For a comparison of UI-based and programmatic workflows, see Choose your workflow.

DataStax recommends using Helm to install Mission Control. Helm provides more granular control over your deployment configuration, better integration with GitOps workflows, and greater flexibility for customization compared to other installation methods. |
Follow these steps to get started with Mission Control:
-
Plan your installation. This step is crucial to ensure a smooth installation process. Identify the appropriate topology and deployment roles for your target database clusters.
-
Prepare your environment by setting up servers on your Kubernetes cluster.
-
Choose your installation method. DataStax recommends using Helm for most deployments, but you can also use KOTS for a guided installation experience.
-
Migrate your existing DSE, HCD, or Cassandra clusters to Mission Control.
