nodetool settimeout

Temporarily overrides a specified request timeout limit. To persist the change, you must edit the corresponding request timeout setting in cassandra.yaml.

To get the current timeout values, use nodetool gettimeout.

Synopsis

nodetool [<connection_options>] settimeout
[--] <timeout_type> <timeout>

The short- and long-form options are comma-separated.

-h, --host hostname: The hostname or IP address of a remote node or nodes. When omitted, the default is the local machine.
-p, --port jmx_port: The JMX port number.
-pw, --password jmxpassword: The JMX password for authenticating with secure JMX. If a password is not provided, you are prompted to enter one.
-pwf, --password-file jmx_password_filepath: The filepath to the file that stores JMX authentication credentials.
-u, --username jmx_username: The username for authenticating with secure JMX.

Separates an option from an argument that could be mistaken for an option.

timeout

Time to wait. Default unit is milliseconds. Set to 0 to disable the specified timeout.

timeout_type

The request timeout type. Each type corresponds with a timeout limit setting in cassandra.yaml.

Set the timeout limit for write requests to 15 seconds:

nodetool settimeout write 15000
```
Disable the timeout limit for truncate requests:
```
nodetool settimeout truncate 0
```
Set the internode connection timeout to 5 seconds:
```
nodetool settimeout internodeconnect 5000
```
