Start Hyper-Converged Database (HCD) as a service

Hyper-Converged Database (HCD) runs a service when installed from RHEL or Debian packages.

All nodes in the cluster must have the same version of HCD installed from a package. Nodes might not be able to join the ring if they are running different versions of HCD or other Cassandra-based database distributions.

  1. If you are restarting a node, stop HCD before starting it again.

  2. Start HCD:

    sudo service hcd start

If the following error appears, see HCD cannot start with YAML parsing error.

WARNING: Timed out while waiting for HCD to start.
  3. If you need to start HCD on multiple nodes, repeat the previous steps on each node.

  4. Verify that the cluster is running:

    nodetool status

Make sure all nodes report UN (Up/Normal).
