Remove (drop) a search index

Drop a search index from a table and delete all related data using the DROP SEARCH INDEX command.

Synopsis

DROP SEARCH INDEX on KEYSPACE_NAME.TABLE_NAME;

On Linux systems, object names, such as keyspace and table names, are case-sensitive. CQL converts object names to lowercase unless enclosed in double quotation marks.

Example

  1. Drop the wiki.solr search index:

    DROP SEARCH INDEX wiki.solr;
  2. Verify that the files are deleted from the file system:

    ls /var/lib/cassandra/data/solr.data/wiki.solr/index
