Adjusting timeout for index management
When running search index management commands on large datasets using cqlsh or dsetool, the process might take longer than the default timeout period (10 minutes).
You can override the default timeout value.
For cqlsh, temporarily increase the timeout period for index management commands by setting the following options before starting cqlsh:
-
Set
--request-timeoutto a non-default value. This enables setting theCQLSH_SEARCH_MANAGEMENT_TIMEOUT_SECONDSenvironment variable. -
Set the
CQLSH_SEARCH_MANAGEMENT_TIMEOUT_SECONDSenvironment variable:export CQLSH_SEARCH_MANAGEMENT_TIMEOUT_SECONDS=900;
For dsetool, before running an index management command, set dse.search.client.timeout.secs:
export JVM_OPTS="-Ddse.search.client.timeout.secs=900"
Setting the JVM option overrides the default timeout.
